I think, the benefit, concerned with the speed which is possible to get by upgrading, is simply not worth putting the efforts because while upgrading we will need to get a new processor and we will have to be careful not to damage the motherboard.
Adding more memory were useful because, then the increase in productivity would be significant. Anyway, let’s get familiar with the process.
First of all, in most of the cases we have to completely disassemble the laptop, to replace a CPU. Some old laptops have a separate CPU compartment. Though, they are too old and it is not necessary to discuss them here.
Let’s assume that we are not concerned with Packard Bell laptop, for example. As you can see, I am using a laptop disassemble guide found on the Internet. It has to be done like that because every laptop is different.  I am showing the motherboard I took out from the laptop. The CPU slot is usually on the bottom side of the motherboard in modern laptops. We have to remove a heat sink and take the CPU out. Here, it is shown how to do it.

Before placing the heat sink on the CPU, make sure that the thermal paste is applied.
And now the same procedure like disassembling only vice versa has to be fulfilled. The best thing to do is to mark the screws while disassembling laptop because it is easy to mix them. If there are a few lengths of the screws, if we mix them, the laptop might even refuse to start.
There will be plenty of screws, so it is better to keep them in a safe place, such as a separate small box for every screw size.
