To replace USB broken port on the laptop we can use a tool so called hot air gun. This tool is widely used by computer repair engineers to replace warious electronic components on the motherboard including the USB ports.

The hot air gun can be bought online for a reasonable price and will be still good quality. The hot air gun consist of the air pump , heating element and the heating control unit. All of the device’s working process is operated by the electronics.

Before you will start to replace a broken port on the laptop motherboard I would suggest to practice by removing it from the faulty motherboard. Faulty motherboard we could buy from the ebay with reasonable price.

But firs I need to mention the very important thing in the soldering or desoldering process the Flux. This material easies the soldering and makes desoldering easier. Without it the possibility to damage the motherboard is much higher.
So first we need to buy it. It is something expensive but last for a long time and will be used for other repairs.

The process will begin turn the hot air gun on . Wait for a few seconds to allow it reach the working temperature (300 deg Celcius). Make sure nothing left near the port that can easily melt. Apply the flux and point the gun a few milmimeters from the PCB as shown in the illustration below.

Make a few circular mowements to heat up all the region near the port to heat up all the region. Then heat up all the region where the port is connected. From time to time check is the port moving or not. To heat up until the solder melting temperature will take some time. It depends on many factors and for every motherboard it will be different. Usually it takes 30 seconds.
When you will feel that the port moves slithly heat up the region where the four pins are connected and try to push out the port. If everything goes in the right sequence to push the port out is easy and you will not damage the motherboard.

Another way to desolder this port is to use special desoldering tool like Hakko 808. But again sometimes you will get a motherboard that is hard do desolder even with this gun. Then use of the hot air gun is inevitable.
