To build one’s own computer it is necessary to have some key computer components, such as motherboard, processor, monitor etc.
The main key components for every computer are two: a processor and a motherboard. It, mainly, depends on the motherboard what kind of processor, AMD or Intel, will be used. If the Intel is already chosen, then the motherboard which is suitable for the Intel processor has to be used. At the moment, there are two types of motherboards, one for Intel and another one for AMD. Both of processors are fine, but some CPU for AMD processors is cheaper, while Intel is superior because of its speed and productivity.

Memory is the same of both types of the motherboards. It is important to remember that the memory is of a few types: DDR1, DDR2 and DDR3, which are not interchangeable.

A computer case can be bought from the computer parts store, but it is cheaper on eBay.

Another component is the hard disk. It is the device which will store all the data when computer is switched off. Nowadays, almost all hard disks come with SATA interface.
All the cables to connect hard disk and DVD drive are necessary, now they are known as SATA cables.

A keyboard and a mouse are also necessary for computer’s building. Nowadays, LCD LED flat screen displays are used as monitors. The computer display is connected to a video card with VGA cable. It also can be connected with DVI or HDMI cable, if the video card has one.

The video card is a device that forms an image for a monitor. It can be integrated into the motherboard or can be bought separately and installed.
To make it operational, it is necessary to have an operating system. There are even free types, operating systems, one of them is Linux. If the Windows operating system is required, it costs more than 100 USD, which also increases the final sum.

The hard disk fits to the computer case in a special compartment. There are places for screws in the casing.
The motherboard also fits into the place and is screwed with screws.
The DVD drive usually is fitted next to the hard drive and connected to the motherboard with the cable.

The motherboard also has to be connected to the power supply. The buttons on the case are connected to the motherboard. To find how to connect everything correctly, the best solution is to look into the motherboard book or search on the Internet for a motherboard manual.
