The Linux Ubuntu installation is pretty straightforward. Presently, the entire Ubuntu 9.04 distribution is compiled into just one installation CD. To get the Ubuntu ISO file, simply follow this link. To install Ubuntu from a CD, you will simply need to burn the downloaded ISO file onto a CD. After that, you need to set your computer to boot from a CD drive and let it boot. This is the first screen that you will see.

You can now select the language for the setup that you prefer.

Now, you have a menu that gives you 5 different choices. The first choice is to boot Ubuntu from the disk without installation. This will leave the hard disk untouched. The second choice is to install Ubuntu on the computer. The third choice is to check the hard disk for errors. It is recommended to perform this check because it takes care of any possible bad sectors on your disk. The fourth choice will be to test the memory or RAM. The fifth choice would be to boot as usual from the hard disk.
