It is possible to encounter some difficulties, while watching AVI and other video files on Mac. The Apple claims that the QuickTime is the best player available. Though, it is the best only for the formats the Quick Time can understand.
So, there are two ways to watch AVI files on Mac OS. The first way and, in my opinion, the best one is to download and install the Perian. This will add the necessary codecs to the QuickTime. Do not forget to update the Perian after the installation, as, for instance, the QuickTime was not showing the picture before updates have been installed on my MacBook.
It is advantageous to do this because if we update the QuickTime, we can watch movies and use remote control for navigation by means of the Mac OS Front Row.

The second way is to install VLC media player. It is the smartest player up-to-date. The only drawback of the VLC is that the quality of the video picture is worse. So, the best, in my opinion, is the QuickTime. It occurs as if the Apple is right about that the QuickTime is the best in reproducing video image quality. I have noticed it on the QuickTime Windows version.

So, two ways of how to do it have already been introduced.
