Gateway currently manufactures three lines of laptop models. Line NO with models NO20 and NO50 is targeted to business customers as it has features designed for office use. In Gateway's words, all these model lines are tested for reliability through various tests including casing durability tests, spill test, drop test plus an HDD protection test. Line NO Gateway laptops are made with magnesium-alloy materials, which are much stronger as casings used in the past. Gateway laptops are available through authorized resellers.
Gateway Laptop NO50
This model is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor; the operating system like for really business laptop is Windows Vista Business. This laptop has 15.4" WXGA LED Backlit TFT LCD Display and SATA hard disk drive up to 500 GB in size.
A fingerprint reader is provided for better security, which is a must-have feature in today’s times.
Draft-n wireless is incorporated to this model for even better wireless coverage. Also, it has standard equipment as other laptop models including DVD-RW, 5-in-1 media reader and an integrated graphics card. It is also important to mention that this laptop has WiMAX Wireless and is provided with a webcam.

Gateway Laptop Model NO20
In Gateway's words, this is a laptop but it would fit to the Netbook category because it has a small 12.1" screen.
But quite unlike its other brothers with Atom processors, this laptop has a powerful genuine Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. With this configuration of hardware, it easily runs operating systems like Windows Vista and Windows7.

This laptop comes with Windows Vista Business. Hardware is almost similar configuration as other laptops—a SATA Hard Disk Intel GM45 Express Chipset, Integrated video card, WiFi wireless. It can be equipped with a 9 cell Li-ion battery pack which brings battery life to 7 hours.
This Gateway laptop is loaded with the usual software applications from various vendors. Sometimes the default installed software applications in new laptops doesn’t do anything much but slow the system down. So if you aren’t satisfied with the system performance, you can just simply uninstall a few unnecessary programs.
Gateway’s Standard Series Laptop NS 50
By Gateway’s own admission, the Standard series NS Notebook is designed for small- and medium-sized businesses that need a good-quality mainstream machine for standard office work. Like Office series, the Standard series laptops go through various reliability tests. It has standard features such as Genuine Windows Vista Business, 15.4” WXGA High-Brightness TFT LCD, up to 4 GB of DDR2 memory, Fingerprint reader, 5-in-1 media reader, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM, supports high definition audio, BIOS and HDD passwords and an HDMI port. The battery life is up to 7 hours with an 8 cells battery pack.

There is a misconception that Gateway is a nonentity from China trying to get into the American market. However, this is completely wrong. Gateway is completely American; it was founded on September 5, 1985 in Sioux City, Iowa, USA. It has also ranked among the top 500 Fortune companies in the late 90s. It was bought by Acer in October 2007. To date, Gateway Inc’s revenue has been around 3.98 billion US dollars.
