Nowadays, it is difficult to make an independent and complete laptop review because the production of computers changes extremely fast and their being up-to-date period is very short. Every few months there is a new model of a laptop send to the market. The main laptop components - motherboards are made in a few factories, in China. Laptop manufacturers usually are not making laptop motherboards in their countries; they simply are outsourcing them to the China. The biggest laptop motherboard manufacturer is in Shenzhen, in China. Laptop screens, DVD's, and other parts are made by different manufacturers. For example, Lenovo uses Samsung’s LCDs. Generally, the laptop’s quality depends on its parts’ quality. The laptop should satisfy current customer’s requirements.
Lenovo (formerly IBM) had been manufacturing one of the best laptops in the past. However, they were quite expensive. After Lenovo acquired IBM laptop business, a few not so good models and some good ones have been made. The model Lenovo X61 is one of the most successful models from Lenovo.
There are some sites, where you can find complete laptop reviews. One of them is www.cnet.com. Cnet.com is known not only for reviews about laptops because their editors write about camcorders, cameras and computers as well.  There also are ratings performed by editors and by users. Users may express their opinion about every reviewed model. It has something in common with the Amazon.co.uk site.

Sometimes laptop manufacturers are blamed for the laptops’ faults. But only the actual manufacturer should be responsible for that. Recently, most of the hardware products are designed in the USA and manufactured in China. One can never know, who has made the motherboard of the laptop .The perfect example could be well-known cases, concerning HP Pavilion laptops with faulty GPU soldering. This may be the direct responsibility of NVidia because they have made an overheating chip, but the other part of the responsibility might belong to HP because they have not noticed it before starting the production of those laptops. In my opinion, the HP has designed the perfect laptop, despite its manufacturing quality.
