Laptop Spares—Never Too Difficult to Find!

The kind of laptop spares you need depend on the kind of laptop you have. For every PC laptop computer, there are several spares that can be used, and these can be found easily. You can find them on classified ad websites such as GumTree.com or craigslist.com. Simply select the country you are located in and browse. On such classified ad websites, you will find people selling parts they don’t need any more, and you will also find people selling complete laptops. Look persistently and you will find what you are looking for.

eBay is another good source for laptop spares. Again, search by location and you will find an eBay website that is customized to your requirements. You can search easily through your laptop model number. Most times, eBay sellers include the compatible laptop model numbers as well, to show people which laptops the parts will be compatible with.

Things get more convenient if you know the model number of the particular part that you are looking for. In most cases, you will find this number directly printed on the laptop part. There are laptop models that are very similar such as the IBM T20, T21 and T22. With such similar laptop models, you will find that their spare parts can be exchangeable, though there are some exceptions.

You might also wish to get your laptop serviced and repaired and some laptop parts fitted in or replaced. If you are in the UK, PC World could do such a service for you. But, these services are decidedly costly, especially if you add their other charges such as those for transferring data.

If your laptop is Mac and you need a part for that, then your choices are restrained. Once again, you could get parts through eBay or classified ads or local stores. The good thing here is that Mac has really tried to spread itself out—we have found local Mac stores even in the remotest of parts of the world.

With Macs, you only need to have which Mac you have, such as Mac BookPro, PowerBook, iBook, etc. Dissembling and replacing a part in a Mac is no different from doing it with any other laptop. But the tools that are used are different and somewhat difficult to find too. Even the screwdrivers used are different. We did find some places online where specialty Mac screwdrivers and other tools are sold. Apart from that, repairing the Mac is the same as for any other laptop—it also requires a large amount of expertise and experience.

Going off track a little, you could also decide to break your laptop into spares and sell them individually on places such as eBay. eBay is a good place to sell because you get feedback there, which you can use for your later buying and selling requirements. Probably you might have your own website one day and want to sell stuff through eBay. If that happens, such feedback could really come in handy!
