Laptop screens
A bit of history
1972: The first active-matrix liquid crystal display panel was produced in the United States by T. Peter Brody. 2007: In the 4Q of 2007 for the
first time LCD televisions surpassed CRT units in worldwide sales. Laptop screen or LCD screen a liquid crystal display is a thin, flat panel
used for electronically displaying information such as text, images, and moving pictures. Its uses include monitors for computers, televisions,
instrument panels, and other devices ranging from aircraft cockpit displays, to every-day consumer devices such as video players, gaming devices,
clocks, watches, calculators, and telephones.
Dimensions

As you see as time passes laptop screens increasing in size. Today there are plans to introduce organic LCD. That will produce
even more realistic pictures in next generation laptop screens.
Earlier LCD were produced with incandescent light bulbs, electroluminescent panel, one or more cold cathode fluorescent lamps,
hot cathode fluorescent lamps. All screens with this type of lamps are aging and it is sometimes necessary to replace lamp to get back the
picture condition to normal.
Today almost all laptops are sold with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) backlight screens. Almost every laptop with 16:9 display
introduced since September 2009 uses LED-backlit panels.
Trouble shooting
If your laptop doesn't have any cracks but it still displaying not proper image first thing you can do is to connect the laptop to external
monitor. If then the image is good then there is some fault with laptop screen. If the image on external monitor is the same as on laptop screen
it indicates that there is a fault either in laptop motherboard or grapfic card. In some cases this is caused by grapfic ship GeForce which
because of heat starting to desolder itself.
We saw many cases when the fault is caused by broken video cable connecting LCD with motherboard. If the laptop screen flickers
when the lid is turned that indicates tha probably the video cable is damaged and needs to be replaced.
Another case can be when the LCD inverter is faulty. then the LCD doesn't light up at all or constantly flickers. But the
image still can be seen and it is very dark. Then the fault is likely caused by the inverter.
