Laptop Screen Repair
Laptop screen replacement is not the most complicated procedure when you are repairing your laptop. Since laptop spare screens are widely
available, the most difficult part is to replace the LCD screen. In almost all cases, with the laptop screen, it is best to replace and not to
repair. It is not at all economical to try to repair an LCD screen and the other reason is that it would be difficult to do so. LCD screens are
made from tiny parts and if the screen is cracked, the liquid crystal will almost always spill out. If that happens, there would be no way of
repairing it later on.
The laptop screen is usually equipped with an LCD screen with fluorescent lighting and in newer models you would find an LCD with an LED
backlight. This is the only difference usually between normal LCDs and LED LCDs. As LCD screens are very thin and their assemblies are made of
glass, they tend to crack if too much force is applied on it. They could crack if they are pushed with a little extra force or even if they are
carried improperly. When the screen cracks, a dark liquid spill can be quite easily seen. And, of course, there would be no picture on the screen
or at least the picture would be distorted. When this happens, the best and most economical option would be to replace the screen entirely.
The replacement of the laptop LCD screen can be done at home if you can get the right screen. Usually to get the right LCD screen for laptop,
you will need its part number. It is usually printed on the back side of the screen. To read it, you will have to remove the laptop plastic. This
would call for a small screwdriver.
The Toshiba laptop screen also can be repaired following the same procedures as mentioned above.
A cheap laptop screen repair is definitely not possible, except maybe in the case that there is an inverter fault. When that happens, you can
get cheap inverters on eBay. The usual symptom if inverter is faulty is that there would be no backlight on the LCD but still you would be able
to see a dark image.
Also, the faulty cable connecting the LCD and the motherboard can sometimes cause problems. In older laptops, these cables are quite thick.
They can get loose in the region where they are connected and can even break. But, a broken LCD cable is a very rare case.
This is almost all the information you would need to repair a laptop screen. But remember that there no such thing as a cheap laptop repair.
LCD screens always cost money and buying a new LCD will be expensive as well. Secondly, there would be labor involved in actually fitting the
screen again and that would cost money too.
