How to Make Your Computer Faster
This is the question everyone seems to ask after they have used their computers for some time. But, the answer lies in first understanding
what makes the computer run slow and what must be done in order to prevent that from happening.
Hardware Methods
It is widely known that additional memory can noticeably increase the speed of a computer. So, this is the first way to speed up your system.
It isn’t a difficult method at all; memory is easily available and replacing it isn’t difficult at all.
However, if the speed of the computer still doesn’t improve after adding memory, then there might be other things that need to be looked
into.
The problem might be related to software as well, because there is a possibility you have received something dangerous over the Internet.
There are malware applications that might get installed on the computer without your permission. So, you might need to clear all Internet-related
garbage. To do this, you will need to clear the Internet Explorer browser’s cache.
Secondly, there is a possibility that software installed from the Internet such as flash games, computer optimizers or speed optimizers might
be creating problems. You need to delete all of these things because they do more harm to the computer than help.
We aren’t into any kind of anti-advertising here, but in some cases, the Norton Antivirus is known to slow down computer systems. You may
actually speed up your computer by uninstalling it. Now, this doesn’t mean Norton is bad, but there is some attention it needs from its
engineers. McAfee is also known to similarly slow down computer systems. There’s one more thing that goes against McAfee. It tries to needlessly
protect the computer from any file that you might be trying to download from the Internet, even necessary files. However, you should know that
there’s a big difference between a safe slow system and an unsafe fast system.
In case your computer has an integrated video card, it is recommended to equip the system with a separate video card that is connected to
either PCI, AGP or PCI-E slots. This is recommended because it eases the burden on the processor and, of course, it increases the average system
speed. Today’s graphic or video cards are equipped with powerful processors and their own memory that might be even of the same size as the
computer memory. In our opinion, it is enough to have a basic processor and a powerful video card to run all games, however new they are.
Software Methods
Another issue could be that the OS has aged. As more and more software applications are installed on the system, the time taken by the computer
to process them also increases.
The operating system itself could also be a problem. It is known that Vista demands more system resources. Hence, it is natural that it will
run slower than Windows XP or Windows 7.
There can be some more factors that influence the computer system speed. These could range from the drivers on your computer to the hard disk,
which could be running slow. Older hard disks tend to be slow because they use less cache and the interface connecting the laptop motherboard
with older hard disks is also pretty slow. These are almost all the factors that might make your computer run slow. Now, it is time for you to
implement some corrective steps and measures.
